Equality hairtrends: all about the male brushing
Equality hairtrends: all about the male brushing
Let’s be honest: when saying “brushing“, most of us think “feminine hairdressing”. But what if we told you that equality works both ways and that brushings and longer hair got trendy for masculine public too…? Let’s unveil everything about male brushing with the incredible hairstylist Fermin Diaz!
How is male brushing profitable?
Undercut, pompadour, rockabilly… These trendy haircuts all share one common detail: shorter and faded hair on the sides, with a longer hair on the upside. With that length on top, it’s no mystery why brushing gained its new importance… Actually the main reason is that hair wax and fixations can’t do all the job and for the hair needs to be shaped before. This quiff can’t only be tamed by hair products if we want if to shine a natural finish. And here is why we developed the male brushing, a perfect mix between volume and natural hair, with a glimpse of elegance.
- No artificial glossy effect
- Natural finish, with movement
- Sensation of density
- Lots of possible styles: wavy, quiff…
Before brushing the hair, Fermin Diaz insists that it’s more than necessary to control its quality and density. This will be a good basis for a better control of the hair and its dressing. Knowing better the type of hair, it’s then time to select the right brush in line with it and, as remarks Fermix Diaz, the Evolution range by Termix has been conceived for it: three different kinds of brush, for different types of hair, thin, medium or thick. “These brushes will help you controlling the look and preventing the hair from dehydrating while you dry it“, being the best tool for modeling the most rebel hair and giving it just the shape wanted.”
The perfect male brushing step by step (say yes to waves)
What would you need for a perfect brushing? We here unveil the secret, entering the Pugilato studio with the hair stylist Fermin Diaz and the Spanish model Carlos Centella. Let us convince you…

STEP 1
As we get the chance to be in very good and professional hands, there’s no reason why not to enjoy a light haircut, to refine the sides and the thinner zones. Here, Fermin Diaz is using the Barber clipper and a carbon comb to reshape Carlos’ hair on the neck and the sideburns zone.
STEP 2
We already noticed how important a quality hairbrush might be when appropriate to the type of hair, and so is the choice of the right hair dryer. To make it easier, Termix packed everything you need in a perfect kit, the Deluxe which includes 5 Evolution Basic brushes and the compact, professional hair dryer 4300. This is how we can brush and sculpt the hair while taking good care of its health and structure.
STEP 3
Depending on the hair length, we’ll chose a certain diameter for the brush. In this case, working on a short male hair, we can use the 17ø or 23ø, being the smallests in the kit. With the hair dryer at half its power, we give volume right from the roots, twirling the brush on the side we want.
STEP 4
Today, we aim for a wavy brushing, so we’ll twist the brush and twirl every strand of hair.
STEP 5
We finally undo the curls passing the fingers through the hair, for a natural effect, before using a light fixation spray that will maintain the male brushing on for long.
FINAL EFFECT: A natural finish and movement, to display in any occasion. There’s always a reason to shine a good hair!
Want to completely change your style? Why not try wet hair?
Another super-trendy hairstyle that completely went over genders is the wet hair style. We mostly saw it this year on the red carpets, as actresses displayed it at the French Cannes Film Festival, for instance. This must-do passed from Clark Gable‘s famous touch to very contemporary, but kept being so easy to achieve through the years.
STEP 1
Humidify the hair with a spray product. It is important that the product should fall mistily, not to excessively weigh the hair down. You can use one of the specific Termix sprays for that operation.
STEP 2
Mark the side-parting and comb the hair with a thin, anti-frizz accessory such as Termix combs, following the movement we want to give. It is always preferable to respect the natural shape of the hair, so that combing doesn’t generate too much friction and the hairdo will last for longer.
These are the simple two steps to get a perfect wet hair effect! A classical chic hairstyle you can display anywhere.
You want to go further in male brushing? Why not try the progressive brushing?
This technique totally fits the smartest looks, for those who enjoy being well-dressed but don’t have too much time to spend on grooming every morning. Progressive brushing for men is kind of a softer keratin treatment, with a smooth and natural straightened finish. This treatment has to be done by a professional, and combines a specific shampoo with a neat brushing and the use of a hair iron to fix the final result. You can repeat the process if you want the hair to hold longer, and this brushing will last for a while, naturally moving the hair every day just the way you like it to.
