The new summer hair trend is called Bronzing Hair
Sun highlighting, Tiger eye hair, blorange… Tendencies in hair colouration never stop changing, providing you with many sparkles of inspiration. As today we deal with natural trends, why not spending the summer focusing on a major hair colour blast…? It’s called Bronzing Hair, and here is why you’ll love it. Come and discover the secret of the best natural look.
What exactly is Bronzing hair?
With such a name, the Bronzing Hair trend couldn’t be about anything less than a nice suntan, playing with shades to give the sensation of a natural sun exposure. And, alike the effect of a bronzer powder on your skin, this colour effect should give your hair quite a luminous touch. With a soft, natural look, you’ll soften your facial features and consistently enlighten your hair.
If this introduction arouse your curiosity, it’s about time to sit down and get ready as we’ve been asking the trendy Spanish hairdresser and colour specialist Anna Barroca about her special leading technique on Bronzing Hair… “It’s full of vitality and a perfect alternative to a full colour for summer”, as she commented us, “for what it’s really all about shades”. And before diving into a Bronzing Hair style, better start studying one’s facial features, as they are exactly what this technique should accentuate.
Like when you carefully select your make up base, the eye-shadows, the blush on your cheeks or the contouring elements you need, the Bronzing Hair style should be made exactly according to your skin and eyes tones. Aiming at a natural and advantageous effect, such as you would get from a few days under a gentle sun, the technique requires a good precision: “you need a soft transition, and no skipping a millimetre in the colours, so that it won’t show”, insists Anna Barroca.
So, you have to choose a range of tones close to your natural hair colour, so that you can play with lighter and darker shades, creating a contrast in the “bronzing” effect.
You might have seen it on…
Still not convinced? You might be when you’ll see a few examples on celebrities who wear it as if naturally touched by a sunlight right before the picture was taken…
The Golden version
The trick is to find slightly darker (though quite similar) tones than the natural hair colour. In that colour field, you can find the it girl Rose Huntington or the actress Ana de Armas.
The Brunette version
You can as well play with copper shades and a rather more saturated effect that would give a hint of movement and light to the hair. Here, you can check the soft, arty work on Alexa Chung, Alicia Vikander or Mila Kunis’ hair.
Which steps to follow for a perfect Bronzing Hair?
Now you’ve had a good helping of inspiration, let’s get to work and follow the steps of the hairstylist Anna Barroca, through the latest Bronzing Hair colour trend!
1 . To prepare the hair, slightly humidify it before untangling with the right, soft brush for it, the professional Paddle brush by Termix.
2. Part the hair in several strands, using an antistatic comb with fine teeth, and clipping them with Black Hair Clips. Create zigzag lines on from the scalp, to strengthen the authenticity when applying the colour.
3. Use small rubber bands to form small ponytails at different highs, so that colours won’t start at the same level, for a natural finish.
TIP: If working on a very straight hair, the trick is to backcomb the top part, up to the roots, so that you don’t draw a straight coloured line, and you can create a great faded, natural effect.
4. Once you’ve been emulsifying the colour in the Shaker, you can start applying it on the hair. As this technique only depends on the reflections and the lighting effects, at first we only apply the chosen colour on the front strands, so as to play with the copper notes.
5. While applying the colour, we have to combine two tones. So we’ll use aluminium foil and two brushes, a large and a thinner one. The first one will apply a large amount of product, and the second will slightly paint it through small touches which will sparkle the colour through the hair. This way, we’ll achieve an inartificial transition.
TIP: To fully reveal the potential of the colour transition, it’s really important that we use two brushes: one to layer the great amount of colour, and the other one to refine it.
6. Then fold the aluminium foil and turn it over so you can apply the complement colour for a perfect shade in the hair. And again, we repeat the former step, using the two brushes for a perfect colour.
7. When the front strands are soaked with colour, we can start applying a more natural tone to the rest of the hair. Here, we chose a shiny chocolate golden note, to bring volume to the hair.
8. When the tint has penetrated the whole hair, deeply wash it and apply a hair mask to soften the ends. Then, use a professional hairdryer, such as the Compact 4300 to sculpt a soft brushing and give the hair a natural wavy move.
