The secret to a new brushing technique: waves without flat iron
He learned in Milan next to the world famous Italian hair stylist Aldo Coppola, who worked on the hairstyles of many celebrities, including Sophia Loren, Monica Bellucci, Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista. And now, his first salon in Barcelona –Opera Lounge– has opened a new business pop-up concept, putting together the concept of hairdressing with a space dedicated to exhibitions and other activities. With this innovative spirit, Giovanni Lavorante presents a new technique of brushing, highly developed in Italy, where the Termix Evolution XL hairbrush, with 3cm extra of length, becomes the best tool to achieve lasting and sophisticated waves without using a flat iron.

“With the hair straightener we get very sharp waves, but also somewhat artificial. Today’s trends speak of the natural hair. So, to achieve this, we work the concept of the brush as a useful tool to perform a novel brushing with incredible results: movement, ease and brilliance”, highlights Giovanni.
Power to creativity
The Termix Evolution XL hairbrush, with 3 cm extra of length, allows you to create new styles and much more quickly. “I have always worked with the Termix brushes. However, this new brush, longer than conventional ones, is ideal for working in a more creative and innovative way. I can work with more hair in a single pass, but also, faster. Its innovative vents, that instead of being circular are diamond-shaped, allows more air flow which helps speed up the work and prevent the brush getting too hot and damaging the hair. I also emphasize the tube material, which is non-stick, and its handle, very light and comfortable”, says Giovanni.
The technique
With the new Evolution XL brush we can get perfect, long-lasting waves with a flat iron effect and an extra shine.
Before mastering the hairbrush, dry out 70% of the moisture from the hair. Thanks to its 3cm extra of length we will work sections vertically, to achieve greater elasticity in the waves and wind the hair around the brush. To unroll it, turn it over itself. This will give a plus of heat to hair that is in the brush until you reach the ends, leaving them polished at every turn. We will repeat this mechanism in the rear area and both sides, but for the crown and upper zone we will work horizontally to achieve greater volume, performing the same steps above but with the brush in a flat position.
Once finished, wrap hair at the same time in the brush and slide it by gently turning it over itself. In this way we will achieve a disciplined effect with a lot of volume in tips. If instead we want to achieve an effect more effortless skip this last step and move the hair with your own fingers to get more free and loose waves.
